Announcement about Spirit of America Band visit to Dubai

For two years now DCU was been working on getting the activity of drum corps to the Middle East starting from Dubai .
We have contacted many organizations ,in order to make it happen through the special vision that we have of combining the traditional Emiratie heritage with the modern performing arts ,through teaching music and dance to our kids and support their lives and education with being a part of this great activity with its great positive influence on its participants.

We have got the chance to work closely with the Craig harms who was the first who believed in this project , and he spent many countless hours helping us putting our ideas in a drill design that reflects this vision in order to help with making it real.

Craig with DCU & Spirit of America Band ,started preparing for this visit since August.

All the government entities that we have suggested the project for was welcoming the idea, we got a great support from most of them, the problem was with the timing because it was on a short notice and at that time there was no celebrations to include the show that we have designed.

Therefore the Dubai Sports council wanted to include the show in a local celebration that is already happening in February, and they have asked us to push it till then, but since we signed the agreement with SOA band they had a tight schedule and they couldn’t come unless it’s January.

Due to the time Difficulties SOA band had apologized on rescheduling the visit or even bringing only teachers to help with making the first Marching band in the Middle East.

DCU understands the difficulty of achieving such a big project and we thank all of the people and kids who have take the time in making that happen .

 This announcement is to state the following :

1- DCU is continuing its project within the UAE and we are still working on the new timing of the show according to The authorities request. which will be in February.

3- DCU is still looking for teachers and professionals to bring over for workshops/ performance in the upcoming year starting from February, depending on the government schedules and requests.

4- The government is supporting this project and we are working on including the activity in the summers camps around the country Drum corps activity is happening ,the news about no hope of starting a marching band or a drum corp are not true.

5- DCU will give the priority to the kids who participated with the SOA 3 rehearsals on the show to be invited to make local performance on a smaller scale within the UAE in this upcoming year according to the local request ( if you are interested send a message to our website with your details and schedule)

6- DCU is still in need of professionals who has a wide experience in traveling abroad to make workshops on marching and we invite you to submit your resume if interested to fly over for workshops around the year and to be helping from abroad to enrich this activity and spread it here ( if interested send your resume and message to our website )

last but not least we thank the SOA band and all the people who have participated in trying to make this visit happens, we regret that the local schedule didn’t meet the timeframe we were working on, but although both sides have worked so hard on making it happen and it couldn’t at this time …DCU don’t see any loss in what have happen the only loss is that we won’t be able to meet the band that represented all the drum corps on the USA.

It represented the American spirit indeed , these individuals forgot about competing and because they had committed to make the world a better place by presenting what they know best, they have given from all their hearts and participated in this invitation.

Therefore DCU will continue to work on achieving what all these people believed in and no one of us had lost hope in making it real, some times these things happens for a reason and in God’s well we will achieve it again and very soon.

The visit purpose was to make it a long term partnership, maybe the SOA band as full don’t have the time to fit it in its schedule due to its busy performance throughout the year and we do appreciate that and respect it wishing the band the best of luck of keeping its message and belief being spread all over the universe, keeping them the first who believed in making this project happens and it will because of that.
